When I graduated from college and moved into my first place, one of the first things I did was head to the liquor store and stock the bar with everything I thought was "required." As a result, I still(!) have barely drunk bottles of frangelica, midori and sweet vermouth, along with a variety of bitters.
Similarly, when my wife and I moved into our first house together, we loaded up on every imaginable herb and spice....from anise seed and allspice to tarragon and thyme (leaves AND ground). And just about every one of those bottles is still pretty full (and probably pretty stale by now).
With a spice rack full of every accouterment, it pretty amazing to me that McCormick's actually attracted my attention and has me considering buying even more herbs.
Their new Recipe Inspirations line of pre-measured spices and herbs is EXACTLY something I need. Seriously. It eliminates the guesswork (if you're an "inventive" epicurean as I fancy myself). It delivers a little inspiration to food preparation. AND, I can hopefully start throwing out all those stale containers that have been living in our spice rack for years.
Right on! Who would've expected a mundane, afterthought category like herbs and spices to deliver a little innovation?!
