airplanes are funny.....again

It's been a long time since we could comfortably laugh about the generally woeful experience airplane travel is.

 

Airplane! was released in 1980....

 

Meet the Parents was released 11 (I know....ELEVEN!) years ago.

 

Given everything that occured in 2001, it's refeshing (and reassuring) to see Hanes create an entire campaign set on an airplace and about an annoying passenger on Flight #23 (featuring MJ). This one's one of my faves.

 

uh.....I'm pretty sure this product name was NOT tested in focus groups

viva la Wedgie!

Last week, I run across these wedgie-free DIAPERS in Target last week.

 

Oh, and Hanes is running their "No Ride Up" campaign incessantly these days.

 

Apparently 2011 is the Year of Wedgie-Free Living.....and it's guaranteed, no less!

mea culpa....the best customer loyalty effort in years

Famed London football club, Arsenal, got the shit kicked out of them by ManU on Sunday.

 

For a storied club like Arsenal, with a rabid fan base perhaps only rivaled in the US by Sox fans, they realized quickly that they needed to do some serious fan appreciation to minimize the imminent mutiny.

 

What do they do?

They offer a "make good" free ticket to a future match to the 3,000 fans who make the trek to Manchester to see the ass whoopin'. Take about taking care of your customer base. That's the best customer loyalty initiative I've heard of in years. 

what's your go-to wine?

Maybe it's the track from one of the Stéphane Pompougnac-mixed Hôtel Costes CDs. Or maybe it's the Charlies Angels-inspried editing. Either way, I'm totally digging this new work from Yellow Tail. Might even pick up a bottle and give it another try. Everyone needs a go-to wine, right?

why America needed Hurricane Irene

The 3rd week in August was the PERFECT time for a natural disaster. 

Grocery stores needed an unexpected sales lift (for water, bread, milk, candles, batteries....) at the end of the month when shoppers otherwise wouldn't have extra cash.

Lowe's and Home Depot needed a lift after getting battered by analysts last quarter and the home improvement market being battered by the economy.

Retailers needed it because back-to-school is over and the next legitimate selling season is....Christmas.

Insurance comapnies needed it because....well, fear sells better than anything else.

The television channels needed it to re-ignite ad sales.

Jim Cantore needed it to convince P90X to sign him up as spokesperson. That dude is JACKED.

 

I love my golf clubs

And I love that FedEx appreciates how much I love my golf clubs.

But does FedEx love them enough to ship them cheaper than the $50 baggage charge Delta slaps on them?

Unless you tell me how much, this ad was a waste of money.
