I love Ben & Jerry's, and have always grinned at their occassional pop culture flavor intros.
And I love the SNL Pete Schweddy skit. t's one of my all-time faves. In fact, I think you could point to that skit one of the reasons why Alec Baldwin has hosted 17(!) times.
But 1 + 1 isn't equalling 3 these days.
I'm actually really confused why Ben & Jerry's felt the need to go sophomoric. I always think back to Bill Cosby who consistently kept things clean, and enjoyed a long career as both a comedian and a commervcial pitchman.
Heck, even George Carlin, the creator of "Seven Dirty Words," figured out that cleaning up his act could be a smart move. He's now the voiceover to popular children's show "Thomas and Friends."
My prediction? Scheddy Balls will ultimately be a best seller in 7-Eleven's around the country with peak sales coming after midnight when college kids and stoners are stumbling in with late-night munchies.
Oh, and Alec Baldwin, Molly Shannon and Ana Gasteyer will reprise the original in a reunion appearance this December. May as well capitalize on the furor, right??
