Checked into a Kimpton Hotel recently and was reminded of their clever marketing tactics.
First, there's the free happy hour every night for anyone who's interested. Nice touch.
Then, after you've had a few pops and head back up to your room, Kimpton offers free WiFi - but only if you join their InTouch loyalty program. Bingo - just captured your info and you're in their CRM system.

And then on this last trip, I was presented this card when I checked in. $15 in "free" minibar items is obviously baked into the room rate, but it's still really clever. If only a single airplane bottle of Jack weren't $15....
